Corpus Christi Area Tourism Boost Points to Spring Home Sales
Numbers released by the City of Corpus Christi show an increase of visitors to the city, an increase of 62 percent from last year.
It's an economic impact of more than $56 million dollars, up 52 percent from last year. It translates into more money staying in the area for local hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions.
The Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau are getting businesses and organizations to look at the city for their next big convention.
Becky Cordor of Port Aransas Realty says - We are already getting inquires from the hurricane Ike ravaged Galveston and Crystal Beach areas and we are expecting some beach home lovers to move down to Mustang Island.
We have much larger dunes, stringent setback rules (homes built back from the water much further), and an inward coastal location - that shields the area from hurricane force damage.
We also have more oceanfront homes and lots available on Mustang Island, than the other Texas coast resort markets.
We expect to see the increase in home sales this spring as the insurance companies settle with the displaced homeowners who cannot rebuild on Galveston's west-end and Crystal Beach. |

Summer may be over but it’s still the perfect time to hit the beach. The balmy weather of fall combined with a full event calendar and seasonal savings for visitors makes the coast a perfect weekend getaway.
Although the active hurricane season this year has affected many of the major beach destinations along the Texas coast, one place that remains unaffected is Port Aransas. According to Ann Vaughan, director of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Bureau, more and more people are discovering the quaint fishing village this year since usual beach hotspots like Galveston and South Padre Island are still recovering from hurricanes.
“We have been seeing an influx of people coming in who traditionally go to places like Galveston. A lot of people are discovering us for the first time,” she said. “We’re trying to reach out to people and tell them all about Port Aransas, especially since we are one of the few beach destinations that has been unaffected by hurricanes this year.”
Vaughan describes Port Aransas as having a unique, laid back attitude that’s full of ecletic boutiques, galleries and places to eat. Whether you are into fishing, birding, swimming, sailing, surfing or shelling, there’s a variety to do, she said. For avid golfers, there is a newly built Arnold Palmer designed golf course, she added. Port Aransas also boasts 18 miles of open beach and a new 3.5 acre salt marsh Wetlands Education Center. |

This is the perfect time in Port Aransas to enjoy the beaches. Watch the sunrise with only a few other people on the beach. Enjoy the pleasant weather, no crowds, and great restaurants. Now is a great time to look and buy real estates. There is a lot of inventory resulting in great value for your money. Winter in Port A is like spring in lots of the USA. |
