The 13th Annual Celebration of Whooping Cranes and other Birds will be held in Port Aransas beginning Thursday, February 13th through Sunday, March 1.  There will be numerous nature events and a nature tradeshow.  For a list of events and speakers visit www.portaransas.org

The team of Joan Holt, Becky Corder, Suzette Freeman, and Ann Vaughn participated in the Audubon Big Day birding event on Saturday, February 7th.  The team spotted 86 species for the day in Port Aransas, Mustang Island and surrounding area.  It is a great time of year to be out in the beautiful weather looking for birds.  Port Aransas has three dedicated birding areas in which you can see a wide variety of birds.  Look for shore birds from the Jetty's south to the pier and in the pond behind the I.B. Magee Park building in the Nueces County Park.  South Texas is one of the best birding locations in the United States.
