If you haven’t been down to the island in a while, even in one short year, you’ll notice plenty of new buildings, new businesses and more to come. The City of Port Aransas has issued 31 commercial building permits so far this year, which is more than any one year in the past 9 years. Many of those commercial permits went to businesses that to had rebuild after Hurricane Harvey demolished what was once there. The damage and destruction from Hurricane Harvey was immense. Economically, the total estimated loss was $125 billion and 204,000 homes received storm damage according the National Hurricane Center But, we bounced back. We bounced back better than we could have imagined. The Port Aransas real estate market after Harvey is thriving.
