1. How long have you been a REALTOR? I got my license in 2005.

2. How long have you lived on the island? I moved to Port A from N Padre in 2001. I originally moved to N Padre in 1987.

3. What your dream job was as a child? Astronaut - I grew up in Houston and man first walked on the moon on my 5th Birthday. I was obsessed.

4. How did you get into real estate? I’ve been in sales most of my adult life. I had been in the telecom industry for a number of years and my job involved frequent air travel. After 9/11, I wanted to find a profession that didn’t involve living in hotels and airports. I

The Port Aransas Market reports shows although being in the middle of a pandemic, real estate sales are still going strong.

The median price is up 13.8% at $412,000. This median price is near historic highs!

Active Listings this month were also up 3.1% compared to last year. Along with our neighbors in North Padre, closed sales were flat compared to last year, with 23 total closed sales in March 2020. Days on market were 29 days less than in March 2019, sitting at 122 total days to close.

While we are all being affected in some way by the Coronavirus, our agents have found time to volunteer and help the Port Aransas community. Michelle Lorette has been volunteering for 10 years for various organizations. “I did meals on wheels for ten years. I took a break about 6 months ago, and am helping now with the Food Pantry because of the need. Great group of people that run the Pantry!” say Michelle. In some ways, coronavirus has brought people together, while we are all staying apart.

The Helping Hands food pantry is open for all residents of Port Aransas every Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Social distancing is being practiced and distribution of the goods is taking place outside in the parking lot behind the Presbyterian church on 113 S.

Times have changed – and we are all adapting as the Covid-19 pandemic has swept across the nation. Texas Association of Realtors Chairman, Cindi Bulla said, “I am hearing stories throughout the state of our members rolling up their sleeves and doing everything humanly possible to ensure the health and safety of our fellow Texans. Most will cite food and shelter as the most important things of their lives. As Texas Realtors, we are the shelter experts.”

Our agents are using the CDC guidelines for showing homes and using innovative technology such as Zoom meetings, virtual tours and more to serve clients over the next few months. Plenty of “ups” in the February Port Aransas market report. The report indicates the median home price is up 26.9% from last year, at $405,000. Active listings are up 3.3%, with a total of 249 listings for the month of February. Homes priced in the $400K - $499,999K price range along with homes/condos priced in the $200K-$299K take the lead as the largest group of homes on the market (47% total). Days on market only changed slightly from February 2019, totaling 120 days on market. Our agents are continuing to have deals in the pipeline that plan to close in the coming days and weeks.

The January 2020 Port Aransas market report indicates the median home price has increased by 10.4% from last year, at $387,500. Active listings are up 1.3%, with a total of 230 homes on the market. Closed sales are down 33.3%. Days on market at 89 which is 14 days more than January 2019. Homes priced on the lower end for Port Aransas at $200K-$299K made up almost a third of sales at 31.3%.
